Okay, let’s admit it. Sometimes the alarm doesn’t go off, or maybe you just turned it off and forgot to wake up in “just 5 more mins”! & That is the start of a very hectic morning because you’ll be rushing around, trying to get your stuff together. Been there, done that. 🙋🏻😳 I recently just had one of those mornings, and thought if only I had prepared the night before . . . 💭 And I know I can’t be the only one, so I am going to share some tips on how you can turn those crazy mornings into minimal stress. Leeet’s get into it!
Check The Weather For The Next Day (or Week)
Check the weather! What is it looking like tomorrow? Now, I know that for those of you living in Toronto, or even Canada, the weather is almost never predictable. I mean we can have rain, hail, snow, and strong winds all in the same day! We Torontonians know it. However, it is a good idea to know what to expect. Checking the weather will give you an idea on how to dress appropriately for the next day. Doing so will have you freaking out less incase it happens to be raining cats and dogs the next morning and you cant even find your umbrella. Whatever the case may be, it’s always safe to check the weather before hand.
Pre-Plan Your Outfit
Getting up late, and then having to decide what to wear takes up A LOT time in the morning. Well, now you know why your momma told you to pick out your outfit the night before! (We hated it, but it is such a lifesaver) Picking out your outfit the night before can save you tons of time in the morning when you come out of the shower. Just slip into it, right!? If you feel like you don’t want to wear the exact outfit you picked out, you can change it up from there, but at least you won’t be starting from 0.
Have Your Work/School Bag Already Packed
This is another life hack we used to practice when we were 6, yes I know. But tell me you haven’t forgotten something important at home because you were so rushed in the morning. It happens, and it happens to the best of us. The best way to avoid looking for everything you need all over your room in 5 minutes before you head out the door, is to just pack it up the night before. I am in school full time, and I have to carry some of my books, my laptop, sometimes calculator and a whole bunch of other things to get me though the day. One thing I always forget is my laptop charger. Yup, it’s my worst “daymare”. For this reason, I cannot stress enough how important and timesaving this is. So packing your bag with your essentials for the next day will save you a lot of the time you don’t have on those late mornings! You can always throw in other things you may need as you realize, but make sure you’ve gotten everything you need. One more thing, and this happens to me a lot. I am a bagaholic👜. So I have a lot of bags, and I tend to switch them up according to my outfit. Although my outfit may be on point, the contents of my bag may not. 🙍🏻 So if you have a similar problem, packing your bag in accordance with your outfit the night before, will save those bad surprises during the day. Same idea goes for the times you have to get to work.
If you want to accessorize in the morning, (late or not) it’s really helpful if your accessories and jewelry are organized and easy to find. Usually when I am running late, I just slip my watch on and throw on a statement necklace. But I know, that if I didn’t have an organization system for my things, I would be scrambling all over the place for them! Organizing everything in place is really a time-saving hack, and it also makes your accessories easy to find. You don’t have to go super crazy with the organization; you can get little acrylic trays with dividers from almost any dollar store or craft store. Mine are from Dollarama, so they are inexpensive and they also don’t take up too much room!
I am pretty sure we all have our makeup hacks for those days we run late. Although I may not have the time to go for the full face, as I normally would if I had enough time, I do make sure to look presentable. For the mornings I am running late, I use the 5-products rule.
These 5 things can give you a presentable look to carry through the day and it is also effortless (takes about 5 minutes to put together💁🏻)! To me these are the 5 daily essentials. Although I say foundation, sometimes applying and blending can take you a few minutes (that you may not have), so when I don’t have much time, I like to apply concealer on areas of my face which need some cover up. Usually on my late days I like to rock bold red lips. It gives you a timeless look, and diverts the attention from your eyes to the lips. Mascara and eyeliner will just open up your eyes to give a fresh look. And apply that blush ladies, you still want to add a slight pop of color on your face, don’t you? 😉
